Pastor Kairis Joy Chiaji

Founder/Director

Lead Trainer - Birth Doula, Educator - Advocate - Consultant

Kairis Joy Chiaji, a visionary solo-preneur of "Braids, Bits & Babies," champions the cause of reducing infant and maternal mortality in the African American community. Through her multifaceted endeavors, she empowers culturally competent birth workers, fosters their business growth, and mentors them in civic engagement. Under the umbrella of "Braids, Bits, Beads, Babies and Other B. S.," she nurtures various businesses, allowing her the flexibility to pursue her passion for Baby Got Back Up Birth Support Services. With a rich quarter-century history of service as a birth worker, Kairis continues to impact Northern California and beyond. Her steadfast dedication, reflected in her motto, "There are millions of unplanned pregnancies, but there NEVER has to be an unplanned birth," underscores her commitment to saving lives.Ā

Kairis's remarkable journey includes her tenure seated on the Board of Directors and serving as the national doula trainer for Birthing Project USA. Kairis continues to improve outcomes for mothers and babies at every level, from the state capital to the classroom and from the boardroom to the delivery room. Kairis' most recent labor of love, the Children of the Sun Doula Project, Inc. serves as the nonprofit home of Northern Californiaā€™s first Queens Village, dedicated to supporting Maternal Health Care providers. Additionally, Kairis takes pride in her second term of service as a Foundation Board Member for the Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce. One title Mrs. Chiaji didnā€™t anticipate is the title of Pastor, as an Elder ordained by Grace Communion International and commissioned to a pastoral team at Living Grace Fellowship in Sacramento, CA. Amidst her impactful work, Kairis finds the necessities of self-care, joy, and rejuvenation in equestrian competitions. She is often seen training with her beloved horses Namib and Nyeusi, all while embracing her signature style, usually in heels.
